Cambodia. Santi Sena is registered at the Ministry of Interior on the 13th of October 2003, with registration number 846. The meaning of Santi Sena can be found in the Pali language. The translation is the simple meaning of a group of persons that is working together for peace, livelihood improvement, social justice and environmental preservation.

Venerable Dr. Nhem Kim Teng

He was born June 22, 1960, at Chantrea district, Svay Rieng porvince, Cambodia. Father’s name Nhem So (died) and mother’s name Khuth Lim. Four brothers, one oldest brother and two young brothers. During, in 6 years old, I was sent to primary school at birth village.1970, the war was broke out in Cambodia, especially in the border of country as well as rural area the schools were closed. He became a Buddhist Monk (in 13 years old) at Chambok pagoda, Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province. After becoming a young monk, I studied Buddhist studies.

1973, the war was heavily broke out the whole country, He decided to escape to Vietnam with other thousand families of Cambodian as the refugee. He continued his Buddhist study. 1979 the Khmer rough regime was failed, Cambodia have been brought freedom peace, He repatriated to Cambodia at that time, and staying in Prey Chlak pagoda, Svay Rieng town, as a abbot up to now. 1987, He met Venerable Mahaghosananda as a supreme monk of Cambodia at his pagoda during his first visit to Cambodia, after occurring of almost three decades civil war. They discussed each other on the reconciliation and peace-building for Cambodia, especially reconstructing the spirit and trust of Cambodian people which was broken out by war.

1992, He participated to build the Center for Peace (Dhamma Yeatra Center) in Cambodia led by Venerable Mahaghosananda, and at that time, he was as a manager of the Center.1993, they organised the Peace Walk from Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) to Phnom Penh, which were participated by 500 Buddhist monks and people, during the Peace Walk reached at Phnom Penh, participants were increased many thousands. He worked as a manager in Center for Peace in Cambodia until 1995.

April 1, 1994 He has established Santi Sena Organization (NGO) at Prey Chlak pagoda, Svay Rieng province. Santi Sena is non-government organization, working for peace, environment and community development. He is as a executive director of Santi Sena. Santi Sena has been working for reduction of the poverty of many thousand poor people, has supported many hundred hopeless children and orphans to study.

From 1992 to 2003 he went to train about Management, Peace building and reconciliation, Sustainable Environment Management, Human right, Conflict resolution, Disaster Management, Poverty Reduction, Social Development, International Law and Diplomacy for both short and long courses at many counties like Germany, Japan, Sri Lanka, Philippine, Indonesia, Thailand, India…
From 2004 to 2010, he continued his study of Buddhist philosophy at Delhi University, India for M.A., M. Phil and PhD.
