Many people are well known Santi Sena as Buddhism organization, by 1st April 2014 Santi Sena is stepping to the year 20 of its operation in the development of Cambodia. Started in 1994 at Svay Rieng province, one of the poor provinces related to natural resources environment. There are 30 staff are now carrying out the mission in target provinces such as, Svay Rieng, Prey Veng and Kratie.

Santi Sena has been active in Cambodia for 20 years, tackling issue as diverse as child right exploitation, natural resources, water and sanitation, Buddhist education and food security as well as adapting the emerging issues such as, climate change, ecological child right and children on the move. Aiming to assist the Royal Government of Cambodia in achieving the growth and development of its people Santi Sena approaches development using Buddhist principles as a guide to development practice.

Community participation in guiding and bringing development outcomes to the local level is a fundamental principle. Socially-engaged Buddhism, having Monks and local authorities active in their local communities providing welfare and social service, is also a primary goal. Five Strategic Aims have been set for 2012 – 2016 to reach the Mission Statement:

  1. Communities have improved living conditions through better management of natural resources, biodiversity and water resources that would lead to increase in livelihood options and healthy environment and practices.
  2. Improve access to education of children living along border by enabling communities to set up pre-school infrastructure, expanding centre-based and mobile library services and improving Buddhist Education among youth, monks and communities.
  3. Improve the economic status of the communities expanding options for income generation by rural poor households.
  4. Decrease of number of child victims and high risk of trafficking in community
    A global civil society where people with different background can peacefully living together, sharing suffering and happiness, and maintaining this green world for the next generations. We invite you to join us in making this society become a true reality.
